I love this video of rush hour in Copenhagen, where the bikes outnumber the cars. Car culture is so ingrained in the United States that it can be hard to remember that healthy, sustainable alternatives not only exist but also thrive. The greater the number of people who choose to forgo driving in favor of biking, walking, and using public transportation, the more systems evolve to make these modes of transport safe and efficient. I’m lucky to live in a city that makes car-free living so easy and enjoyable. Maybe someday I'll need to own a car, but for now I cherish my time spent walking to work. I love breathing the fresh air and watching the seasons change, and it's satisfying to get somewhere on my own power. What's your commute like these days? Let's Copenhagen it up, yes?
